about
After much anticipation, Scope’s track ‘Brudda’ featuring South London-based MC Duppy will be released. Famously stated as a melodic Bass Lion” by musician Treble Clef, Scope’s sound revolves around heavy bass lines played out at different frequencies, creating a melody out of the same keys but different tones on the EQ spectrum. Although this generation of Bass, 140 and Grime musicians continue to innovate and push the boundaries within these genres, Scope never fails to set himself apart as a producer.
Representing SE5, Grime MC and producer Duppy never hesitates to bring out the energy that originated Grime in its early days. With catchy hooks and his memorable “D.U.P.P.Y.Y” tag, Duppy is the perfect example of new talent that pays homage to their pioneers, whilst providing that originality that makes them a true artist.
When asked about how the track came about, the producer was very frank about the process. “I started making it live on Insta.” That’s where Duppy came in. Whilst running around live on Call of Duty, the MC saw Scope going live and tuned in.
“I’d always wanted to work with Duppy because his raw energy.” Those were Scope’s exact words about the MC, and is also the exact reason this collaboration was a success. The rawness that both musicians bring to the table ultimately brought them together to make this track. “The beat chose him and from there we put together this single.”
After hearing the livestream, Duppy put his ideas to work, using Scope’s beat as the perfect opportunity to warn other MCs of his lyrical mastery, threatening to “rip his head off with my pen.” This combination of bass-heavy instrumentals and energetic lyrics make “Brudda” such a staple.
Any chance of Side by Side the vocal mix on Bandcamp, please sir? They only place I have that is on Youtubes and it has really bad sound quality. At the moment I'm Side by Siding myself doing all the lyrics myself and my dog is looking at me like I'm daft. I'm a 50 year old man. I should not be acting like this around the house. humblenations
